The Blue Window

Our Church dedicated to John the Baptist.

We are not sure, but just as John baptised in the river Jordan which was important in that area, so the River Tay was important to Perth…

…in the 3rd century when the Roman Emperor came to Scotland,

…in the 12th century when a previous church on this site was built…

and in the 15th century when this current structure was erected…

The river was key to the city’s growth.

Water is one of the symbols in the Blue Window.

In the Holy Land too, water is very important as in Psalm 63:

“You, God, are my God,
earnestly I seek you;
I thirst for you,  my whole being longs for you,
in a dry and parched land where there is no water
I have seen you in the sanctuary

and beheld your power and your glory.
Because your love is better than life my lips will glorify you.”
Thirst describes people searching for meaning in life.
Finding God is like a thirsty person finding water.
